You will also need a small heat safe bowl and spoon for stirring.

Spot treat any stains by wetting the wool with warm water, and dabbing a small drop of wool wash into the stain. For particularly stubborn stains, pinch the soap into the stitches of the wool, and allow the soap to sit on the wool for about 15 minutes. Then rinse well under running water and repeat if needed.

Fill your basin with tepid water, and add a few squirts of wool wash as the basin fills. Create some suds by agitating the water, and turn the wool inside out. Place it into the basin, allowing it to sit about 5-15 minutes. Gently agitate the water a few times through the soak. Rinse the wool under running water, making sure to match the temperature of the running water with the temperature of the water in the basin. Repeat the wash if needed and gently squeeze (don't wring) the extra water out once the wool has been completely rinsed.

While your wool is soaking in the wash water, start to make up your lanolin emulsification. Take a small bowl or mug of water, and heat it to tea steeping temperature. Add about a teaspoon of lanolin and a die size cut of Sloomb Cube, an Emulsifying Cube, or a few squirts of wool wash, and stir until the water turns a milky white.

After your clean wool is rinsed, fill the basin again with warm water, and pour your lanolin mixture in (the water in the basin should turn cloudy). Place your wool into the basin and allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes. For best results, new wool may be soaked overnight.

Once the wool has soaked in the lanolin squeeze out the extra water and roll the wool in a towel. If your washer has a "spin only" setting, the wool can be spun in the washer on low, to remove the extra water and decrease drying time.

Lay the wool flat in a well ventilated area and turn it often as it dries. Drying time will vary based on humidity, ambient temperature and ventilation. We do not recommend drying over a heater, directly in the sun, or under/over cold air, as this can shock wet fibers and cause the wool to felt. However laying the wool under a ceiling fan or outside on a breezy day shouldn't pose a problem. Drying on an open rack or laundry drying rack can help shorten drying time, as these will allow airflow around the wool garment.

Prepping:
To fully prep your fitteds for use, wash them on hot with your normal cloth diaper detergent, and dry them on low, 5-6 times. This will get the inserts and OBF and Bamboo+Hemp fitted shells shrunk down to size, and allow those fibers to get nice and absorbent.

Detergent:
Because detergent success varies greatly from person to person, there is not any one (or three) detergents we recommend for use on our fitteds. However, you will want to make sure your detergent is gentle, does not contain any extra "boosters" or "whitening powers" and conventional fabric softeners. To get a better idea of what may work for you, ask your local cloth diaper retailer or local cloth diapering group what detergent(s) they have found to be successful for the water type in your area.

Wash Routine:
A typical wash routine for our fitteds will look like the following-

1. Drop or spray any solids into the toilet for disposal.
2. Rinse heavily saturated fitteds under warm, running water, when they come off your little one. This will remove the bulk of the urine prior to the wash routine, and allow the detergent and washer to get the fitteds clean during the wash cycle. You can either place them directly into a small bucket on top of your washer (out of reach of children) or wring/ spin them out and place them in a well ventilated pail.
3. Unsnap all inserts/doublers from the shells prior to storing/ washing
4. On wash day begin with a rinse/ spin or "speed wash" cycle, with warm water and a low spin speed.
5. Then do a "heavy duty" wash with hot water, and an extra rinse, adding your detergent to this cycle.
6. Dry the fitteds on low until they are just barely damp, and air dry them the rest of the way. If you prefer, you can air dry them until they are just barely damp, and then dry them on low to fluff them and make them soft.

Tips and Tricks:

• To keep the fitteds soft, a plant based fabric softener such as 7th Generation Free and Clear or Ecover may be added to the final rinse of the wash cycle as needed.
• If tumble drying the fitteds, use a low heat setting on a manual timed dry. Like your jeans, sheets, shirts, etc... if the fibers become hot to the touch they will stiffen up and can shrink excessively. Most automatic settings on dryers will dry the contents until they have been over dried. To start, set your timer for 45 minutes and adjust as needed.
• Stains are normal and ok! But if you find you want to remove them, use the best stain remover of all- the sun. Gently lay the wet fitteds on a flat surface in direct sunlight and allow the sun to do its work. If the stains are particularly set, re-wet the fitteds and sun until the stains have lifted. Then run the fitteds through a rinse cycle and dry.
• A larger rotation will help maintain the life of your fitteds. If using the fitteds in a smaller rotation, you may find they being to show visible signs of wear faster than if using them in a larger rotation.

Best Use Practices:

• Do not use bleach, oxygen whiteners, strong "stain fighting" soaps, stain removers or additional additives such as vinegar on the fitteds. These will cause the fibers of the fitteds to break down quickly and will drastically shorten the life cycle of the fitted.
• Avoid high heat exposure, with both water and drying temperature, and repeated exposure to hot, direct sunlight.
• If line drying the fitteds, pin one side of the front wing, and one side of the back wing, to the line so the fitted lays sideways. This will help prevent the elastics from stretching with the weight of the wet fitted. Do not pull the fitted taught on the line, as this will stretch the elastics and can cause them to break.

My Fitteds Smell Like...:

If your fitteds have smells to them when wet, something is probably amiss with the wash routine. It’s typically a simple fix, but can take a bit of trail and error to get the right balance for your perfect routine.First, run the fitteds through a hot wash without detergent. Are there suds in the water during the wash cycle? If so, continue to run the hot water washes until the suds are gone, and decrease the amount of detergent used in the normal wash routine, and/or add more time to the wash cycle to get the detergent rinsed away.

If there aren’t any suds in the water during the hot wash without detergent, some troubleshooting is needed. Please send an email at hey@sloomb.com with the following information:

1. what the fitteds smell like when wet (ammonia or dirty)
2. if the fitteds smell on the bum or out of the washing machine
3. if the fitteds rinsed when they come off of your little one(s)
4. how many fitteds are being washed and how often
5. detergent type and amount used
6. details of the wash routine (cycle settings used on the washing machine)
7. a clear picture of the washing machine control panel

Yes, it is possible to use fitteds from birth! Even if birthing in the hospital. When packing your hospital bag, prepare for 10-12 diaper changes per day of your stay, with a couple thrown in the diaper bag for travel home. Don’t forget your wetbag, and wool cover(s) of choice.

It is a common misconception that cloth diapers are not compatible with meconium stools, however, meconium will wash clean in most cases. If you prefer to use a flushable liner as a barrier between your baby and the cloth, fold the liner to fit over the wet zone of the newborn diapers, and discard before washing.

If your baby is exclusively breastfed, there is no need to rinse the stool from the diapers before washing. However you may notice some intense yellow staining on the fibers of the fitted. These stains can be removed by laying the freshly washed diapers in the sunlight to dry, re-wetting them and drying again if needed. If the baby’s stool is particularly seedy or thick, and gets in the leg casings, you may find a quick rinse before washing, will help remove all of the stool from the fitted as sometimes there is not enough agitation during the wash cycle to remove it all.

The amount of fitteds you will need, will depend on how often you want to do diaper laundry. We recommend having at least a day and half worth of diapers, with a few extras for trips out of the house, and to use while the dirty diapers are being washed/ dried. 2 days worth of diapers would be ideal, as those early days with baby can fly by while you focus on resting and getting to know your little one. Most newborns will go through 10-12 changes a day.

There are quite a few newborn diapering options available at Sloomb. Remember, all of our fitteds need a water resistant cover, and are best used with a wool cover over them for maximum absorbency and breathability.

Snapless Minis

Snapless Minis are incredibly versatile and a favorite amongst cloth diapering parents. They will fit from approximately 5-15 pounds and feature a fold down rise to ensure a custom fit each time the fitted is put on your little one. The minis are available in a Bamboo Terry and a Bamboo Velour, and will need a pin or snappi to close. If your little one is a fast and/or heavy wetter, just add an additional doubler to boost the absorbency of the fitted to accommodate your little one’s needs.

OBFs

XS OBFs are a highly absorbent newborn cloth diapering option. A similar absorbency and fit is also available in the BFF and Bamboo+Hemp fitteds. These fitteds are wonderful for heavy wetters and longer periods of wear, especially as your little one grows and spreads their night feeds just a little bit longer. The question is often asked, should I invest in the XS OBF or go straight to the Small? The answer: the XS will fit from approximately 5-11 pounds, and features an umbilical snap down for those first couple of weeks. If you have large babies and don’t intend to use cloth from birth, going to the smalls may be a viable option for you. However, as you can see in the picture above, the XSs do have a lot of life to them and will fit most babies best, from birth.

HLCs/VHLCs

The Size 1 HLCs and VHLCs are a similar cut and fit to the snapless minis, but feature a snap closure. These are a wonderful option for caregivers who may feel leery of pins, and for those middle of the night changes. The fit is versatile and these feature a long, fold over doubler to accommodate your little one’s wetting needs from approximately 7 to 15 pounds.

Flats

Sloomb Bamboo Terry Flats are quite possibly the softest and squishiest “prefold” option out there. Made from 3 layers of bamboo terry, these are an incredibly versatile and absorbent option for your newborn diapering days. If you have smaller babies, the XS Flats will fit best from birth. If you have babies on the larger side, a small may work for you, if the rise is folded down. The flats also make for a super absorbent burp cloth, and many breastfeeding mothers use them during the early feeding days to help absorb extra milk during letdown. There are many ways to fold a flat with the Angel Wing fold shown above being one of the simplest. Who can join?

Anyone with an account is automatically enrolled. Please make sure you are logged in to earn points.

How do I earn points?

You can earn points for completing several activities including referring friends, making purchases, and following our social media accounts. To see all the ways you can earn points click the *Earn Points* tab in the menu.

How do I view my point balance?

Your point balance is on every page in the top bar.

How do I redeem my points?

Select the tab called *Redeem Points*. Here you’ll see all the rewards we offer. If you have enough points, you can redeem them for a reward. 

Is there a limit to the number of points I can earn?

No. Go ahead and earn as many as you can! 

What do the 'approved', 'pending' and 'cancelled' statuses mean?

* **Approved:** These points can be redeemed on rewards immediately

* **Pending:** These points need to be verified before you can redeem them. This typically applies to purchases and referrals. Purchases are usually approved within 14 days.

* **Cancelled:** These points will not be added to your account. For example, this will happen if you cancel a purchase (the points will change from pending to cancelled)

What happens if a friend I refer cancels or returns their order

Your pending points will become cancelled and will be removed from your account.

Why did my account balance go down?

You, or someone you referred, cancelled or returned a purchase.

I completed an activity but didn't earn points

It can sometimes take a few minutes for us to process your activity and provide your points.

Can I use my points during checkout?

Not directly - please redeem your points for a voucher which can then be applied during checkout. If an automatic discount is in place (during a special promotion or sale event), you will not be able to redeem points. This is because our store does not allow stacking codes. You can save up your points for use after the promotion has ended.

I do not see points for every dollar spent. Why is that?

Our program generally excludes all Sloomb exclusive products and sale items unless notified otherwise, but feel free to use your vouchers on anything you like! Products included can be easily viewed in our Rewards Included collection. 

Did you use a discount code when purchasing? The system automatically uses the total dollar amount spent, minus any excluded items at the listed price prior to issuing points. This is automatic and how Loyalty Lion works. If you'd like to use points on a specific item, place that order separately.

How do I leave the program?

If you no longer wish to earn points, please contact us and ask to be unenrolled. We'll unenroll you and you will lose any points you have accrued.

What happens if I leave and decide to join again?

Just contact us and we'll re-enroll you. However, your point total will begin from zero.

I have multiple accounts, will you combine points for me?

No, we can not combine points from multiple accounts.

Where can I report a problem, give feedback, or ask a question I don't see an answer to here?

Please use our normal contact form located in our website footer.

Can I send myself a referral?

Please keep in mind that we are a small company and are really excited about being able to offer this program to you. Our rewards program is intended to thank you for ordering from us and for sharing your Sloomb love with friends. Referring yourself via a secondary email address/account or referring another person who lives in your home is considered abuse of our points system and will not be approved. We reserve the right to cancel orders, remove points, and close rewards accounts that abuse the reward system.

Disclaimer

This is a voluntary program by Sloomb and may be discontinued at any time. This is a new program; no previous orders will be applied. Reward points and reward gift certificates will only be issued in the account holder's name and are non-transferable. Gift Certificate purchases are not eligible. Gifts with Purchase
Gifts with Purchase (GWP) are included with qualifying orders (qualifying total, before taxes and shipping) when available. Please visit our website and/or facebook page for the most current GWP details. *One* GWP will be sent per qualifying order. Orders may not be combined to reach the qualifying purchase amount. While we make every effort to accommodate requests, GWP are chosen at random, and are not eligible for exchange. Should an item or items in an order be returned causing the initial order total to fall below the GWP qualification amount, the unused GWP must be returned with the item(s) or the return will be refused and returned to sender at the buyers expense.

Gifts and Gift Cards

If purchasing a gift for someone through sloomb.com, please indicate the recipient's name in the order notes (located on the cart page) or in the shipping address.

Sloomb will ship to the original purchaser only - to the name and address noted during checkout. Please make sure the address used at checkout is correct, as addresses are not able to be changed once the order is placed. If an address needs to be changed prior to shipment, please fill out and submit the cancelation form to cancel and re-place your order with the correct address.

In the event an order is returned to sender due to an error in the address input at the time the order is placed, failure to pick up the package from the post office before it is sent back, an inaccessible mailbox, failure to pay customs/duty fees, or any other reason not caused by fault of the shipper, the buyer will receive an invoice for the full/ total re-shipment charges prior to re-shipment of the order.

Standard Flat Rate (domestic): Standard flat rate shipping is deliverable to the contiguous United States and to military families with an APO or FPO. Standard flat rate shipping is sent via FedEx Express, FedEx home delivery, USPS first class, or USPS priority mail. If you prefer to ship USPS priority mail, please select that option during checkout.  Combining orders is not available at this time. 

Please purchase signature confirmation. When the package has been scanned by the carrier and shows as delivered, we are no longer responsible for the package. Insurance will not cover lost or stolen packages.

Insurance: Purchasing insurance is the responsibility of the buyer. If you are shipping domestically, you can add shipping during checkout in the shipping options drop down menu. 

Domestic Shipping: orders will ship within 3-5 business days, unless the item is on pre-order or during high volume times. If it is a busy time for us, shipping may take up to 7 business days. Transit times may vary based on the time of year and weather conditions. Please contact the shipping carrier with your tracking number should you have any questions about your package once it has shipped from Sloomb. 

International Shipping: orders will ship within 3-5 business days, unless the item is on pre-order or it is a high volume time. If it is a busy time for us, shipping may take up to 7 business days. We do ship to most countries worldwide - if you have questions, please contact us. International orders will be shipped via FedEx, USPS first class, or priority mail international (please make sure to note your preference during checkout in the notes section). Sloomb is offered in many countries.  If you don't see us in your local store, ask them to carry our line so that you too can enjoy shopping locally and avoiding high shipping and duty fees. Orders will be shipped to the shipping address you indicate during checkout. Sloomb is not responsible for any taxes or customs fees incurred upon arrival to your destination.

Large items: we may need to send a separate shipping invoice for large items (these will be noted in the product listing). Large items are typically bulky and will not be shipped via USPS.

RETURN SHIPPING POLICY: You will be responsible for shipping your return to Sloomb, this will be removed from your refund or store credit.

ReturnsPlease inspect your order upon receipt and notify us within 7 days if you would like to return your item. To set up a return, please fill out a return contact form.  For orders with multiple items, please test one first to make sure it fits properly. Returned items must be unwashed and unworn and free from any pet hair, odor or other debris. Returned items that are received in any condition other than brand new will be refused and returned at the buyers expense. All sale items are final sale and can not be returned or exchanged.

Return Shipping Policy: Returns shipped in a Flat Rate Padded Envelope (FRPE) and smaller will incur a $7.50 return shipping charge. Return shipping charges for larger packages will be calculated by the size and weight of the items returned and exact shipping. 

Returns will be available to the original purchaser only, minus return shipping and a 15% restocking fee on returned product, within 7 days of receiving your order. We only accept packages with our RMA return label on it, if you have any questions, please contact a customer service representative by emailing: heyATsloomb.com. All cancelled orders will be charged a $5 restocking fee.

At this time we are unable to facilitate product exchanges, however a store credit for a returned item may be used to purchase the item(s) you’d like.

Warranty

Fitteds: fitteds that are determined to have a manufacturers defect will be replaced or repaired at our discretion within the first 30 days of purchase. If you feel you’ve received a fitted with a defect, please fill out the returns contact form. Once we receive your submission, we will contact you for a copy of your original receipt from Sloomb or the authorized retailer and a picture of the item to verify the manufacturers defect. A return ship label will then be issued for the product to be returned to us. Our manufacturers warranty covers snap, elastic, and stitching defects only.

Natural/organic/sustainable fibers (wool/hemp/cotton/bamboo) fade, shrink, and otherwise change in appearance and texture with time and use depending on care and is in no way a defect of the product. Care for your products properly, be kind to them, and consider your energy use when determining your wash routine. If you plan on heavy use, please order accordingly. Print fitteds may show signs of wear faster than regular OBFs, using them in a large rotation and line drying will help maintain color and fabric hand.

Wool: Please inspect all wool items upon arrival and notify us within 7 days of receipt if you feel you’ve received an item with a manufacturers defect. Please fill out the returns contact form and once your submission is received, we will contact you for a copy of your original receipt from Sloomb or the authorized retailer, and a picture of the item to verify the manufacturers defect. A return shipping label will be issued for the product to be returned to Sloomb.

Due to the limited nature of our wool garments, wool items purchased from sloomb.com that are determined to have a manufacturing defect may be returned for full refund, store credit, or repaired at our cost. Wool items purchased from an authorized retailer may be returned for store credit at sloomb.com for the purchase amount (not including taxes and original shipping) or repaired at our cost.

We do not accept any warranty returns/exchanges or product returns on items purchased from B/S/T, swap pages/sites, or other platforms. Only items purchased by the original purchaser, with the original receipt from sloomb.com and from authorized retailers, are eligible for a refund/exchange/replacement. 

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: as we are only able to issue return ship labels for USPS, a store credit to sloomb.com will be issued for return shipping costs on items that are determined to have a manufacturing defect after the RMA is issued and proof of payment is received.
